Call for Submissions
The Fiber Society seeks abstract submissions on fundamental research related to the science and engineering of fibers and fibrous materials for its Spring 2027 Conference, scheduled for June 2–4 2027, at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Prof. Particia Dolez, Prof. Rachel McQueen, and Ms. Justine Decaens will chair the conference. Submissions of original work related but not limited to the following themes are welcomed:
• Personal Protective Equipment
• Healthcare/Medical Textiles
• Geosynthetics
• Textiles and Composites for Transportation
• Sportswear
• Apparel and Fashion
• Sustainable Textiles
• Smart Textiles
Online submissions only are being accepted, beginning November 3, 2026. Access The Fiber Society website at thefibersociety.org and follow the link for submissions; do not email your submission. Formatting guidelines for oral and poster abstracts are provided online. Submissions must be in the proper Word document format; no PDFs. Submission deadline is February 15, 2027. Notification of acceptance will be no later than 3/20/2027.
We strongly encourage early submissions for those who must secure their Visas, an extended and tedious process for some. Be aware of what your requirements are and make your submission early to avoid any obstacles or unwanted delays.
Conference registration will be online through The Fiber Society website. Up-to-date information about the conference, hotel accommodations, travel, and more will be available on the website as details are finalized.
For questions concerning abstract content, the submission process, and conference registration, contact Pam Gabriel (pam.fibersociety@gmail.com).
